General FAQs About Urban Cloth

What is DTF printing and how does it work?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing involves printing your design onto a special PET film using water-based ink, applying adhesive powder, curing it, and then heat-pressing the image onto the fabric. After pressing, the film is peeled off—either hot or cold depending on the material—to transfer the design precisely onto your garment

Which fabrics are best suited for DTF printing?

DTF works across a wide range of fabrics—cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, denim, and even leather. It's especially valued for versatility and clarity on both light and dark garments.

How durable is a DTF print? Will it last?

DTF prints are known for excellent durability. The adhesive ensures strong bonding, making prints resistant to peeling or fading, even after multiple washes

Does the print’s texture feel stiff or heavy on the fabric?

There can be a slight stiffness due to the adhesive powder layer. While most customers find this minimal, it's worth noting—especially for garments where softness is essential.

How should I care for my DTF-printed shirt?

To keep prints looking fresh:

  • Wash inside-out on a gentle, cold cycle.
  • Use mild detergent, and avoid bleach.
  • Skip the dryer—air-dry only to preserve ink vibrancy and longevity.

How does DTF compare to DTG, screen printing, and sublimation?

  • DTF vs. DTG: DTF works on more fabric types and doesn't require pre-treatment. DTG is best for cotton, offering softer feel prints.
  • DTF vs. Screen Printing: DTF is easier for complex, multi-color, and small-batch orders without setup fees. Screen printing is more economical at large scale with simpler designs.

  • DTF vs. Sublimation: Sublimation is ideal for all-over prints on polyester. DTF is more versatile across materials and design types.

Can I print detailed photographic or multi-color designs?

Absolutely—DTF excels at detailed, color-rich designs. It supports gradients and fine lines without limitations on color count.

What’s the minimum order quantity? Can I order just one?

DTF is especially great for small-batch or single orders since there are no screen setups or bulk manufacturing thresholds. You can absolutely order just one item.

Can I mix garment types or colors in one order?

Yes! DTF allows printing the same design across different garment types or colors—no extra setup required, so orders are flexible and cost-effective.

How accurate are the colors compared to what I see on screen?

While we strive for fidelity, screen-to-print color shifts can happen. For critical matches, we recommend sharing pantone or specific color codes ahead of time; additional matching fees may apply.

How long will my order take to process and ship?

Production typically takes 3–4 business days after design approval and payment; shipping varies based on location.

What if I receive a defective or incorrect item?

We stand by our quality. Notify us within 7 days of delivery, and we’ll arrange a reprint or refund. (Based on standard industry practice—customize as needed.)

Do you offer returns or exchanges on printed custom items?

Because these are custom-printed apparel, returns or exchanges are accepted only for defective or misprinted items. Personal mistakes (like wrong sizing selected) are typically non-refundable.

If you want to get your custom design printed, is it possible?

This depends on our policy.

  • If permitted: Yes, you can send your own Design to Print On Shirt.

How do I prepare my design file?

For best results:

  • Use a PDF with transparent background, 600 DPI or higher.
  • Avoid semi-transparent or halftone effects that can appear fuzzy in final print.
